Reflection on the Hope

Join us at the La Quinta Museum for a special presentation on the Bob Hope Classic and golf in La Quinta.  Desert Sun Golf Writer and author of 50 years of Hope, Larry Bohannan, will be sharing his insights and stories spanning his career in golf.  After the event Mr. Bohannan will be holding a book signing of 50 Years of Hope,  which can be purchased in the museum gift shop.

Salton Sea and WilliamBlake - February 27, 2010

Join us at the La Quinta Museum for a special presentation by Pat Flanagan of the Desert Protective Council.  William Blake was the first geologist to head from north to south in the Salton Sea basin and alsothe first person to make a geologic map of the area.  Learn about William Blake’s experiences and  then head upstairs to visit the newest exhibit “Visions Past & Present of the Salton Sea” featuring photographs by Chrintina Lange.

Authru Jack Prelutsky takes children on a wild ride around the country with silly nonsensical verses in his book “Ride a Purple Pelican”.  Visit Rudy and his unicorn, see bullfrogs on parade, and many more zany adventures!  After story children will be invited to participate in a related craft.

Everyone enjoyed learning about La Quinta’s Golf Legacy-Lecture by Judy Vossler, Vice President Landmark Golf.  We all learned about the impact that Landmark Golf has had on the city of La Quinta.  Thanks goes to Judy Vossler, Terry Vossler & golf pro Eddy for a informational lecture.

“Sweet Spot” Opening on Friday, 01/08/10 5-7 p.m.

The golf-themed exhibit, “Sweet Spot” is up and running and will have it’s official opening on Friday, January 8 from 5-7 p.m.  Master club-maker Mario Cesariowill be present, along with the “Bob Hope Classic Girls” to launch this unusual exhibit.    Regular museum hours are Tuesdays - Saturdays from 10-4.  As always, it’s free for all ages….  The exhibit is co-sponsored by the La Quinta Arts Foundation, the City of La Quinta Museum, and the Historical Society.
