“Hollywood Greats” - Look-alikes - July 16, 20l0

Come and hob-nob with Hollywood greats (look-alikes) on July 16 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Museum.  The opening of “Old Hollywood and the Desert Club” will feature  history and artifacts from the Desert Club’s fise and fall.  Bring your cameras for photo ops with “Mae West, Lucille Ball, and Clark Gable”.

This new exhibit at the Museum opens Friday with a reception for the whole family.  Come down from 5-7:00 p.m. and step into the “big top” with free popcorn, games, prizes and “TC the Clown”.  Don’t’ forget your camera!  

2010 Summer Program for Children at the LQ Museum

Remember last year’s summer fun?  Well, there’s more this summer for ages 7 - 12.  “Water Wonders” sign upis now open and classes are filling up.  Children will study the wildlife that lives in or near water, through many diverse activities.   Water Wonders I for ages 7-9 June 23, 30 and July 7 from 2-3 p.m.

Water Wonders II for ages 10-12 July 14, 21 and 28,  2-3 p.m.

Cost:  All free at the Museum.  But reservations ar a MUST, so call right away 777-7170 and get your child/grandchild on the list.

FLYING FOR HER COUNTRY - Sat. 8, 2010

Saturday morning will find author Amy Goodpaster Strebe at the Museum to tell about the women pilots of World War II.  She has published a book on the subject of these brave and under-honored women.  Come over from 10:30 - noon.  It’s free.  See the “Women and Flight” exhibition in the upstairs gallery.

Circling The Salton Sea Members Only Bus Tour.  Great day and lots of interesting sights.  Tour highlights included the mud pots, Salvation Mountain, the Wildlife Refuge and the newly open North Shore Yacht Club.

This exciting trip has been added as a special culmination to the La Quinta Museum’s current Salton Sea exhibit.  Join us and our local guides Michelle Hedgecock & Harry Quinn as they lead us on an informative and enjoyable adventure around the Salton Sea.  Tour highlights will include the mud pots, Salvation Mountain, the Wildlife Refuge, and the newly opened North Shore Yacht Club.  Price includes transportation, all admissions and a deli lunch.
