By now all members have received Issue 2 of our new and exciting Newsletter Of La Quinta Historical Society which is called “Historical Oracle”.   The winner of the contest to name the newsletter is Laura Huff.  Laura serves as Historical Society documentarain.  Besides being our offical photographer, She compiles albums of history programs and events for posterity. 

A special thanks goes to Rosemary Hendler & Vera Thaxton for creating our new & improved newsletter.  Thanks for your contributions of time and talent for a job well done.

Coinciding with the bicentennial of Abraham Lincoln’s birth, an exhibit will run from July 16 through November 30th.  Items on display will include a limited edition lithograph set of portraits of Lincoln from the National Portrait Gallery, as well as a set of original merchant currency from the Civil War.

Time:  2:30-3:30

Showcasing the International Year of Astronomy.  The exhibit will follow feature photographs from NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope, a model of the Solar System and other space related artifacts.  La Quinta Museum and the La Quinta Library will collaborate on space-themed monthly events and programs.

Opening reception on Friday, May 22nd, 4:30 to 6:30PM.
