Winner of the Bellwether Prize for Fiction, “The Book of Dead Birds” tell the story of a family tragedy and a single mother in a new and strange land, near the Salton Sea in California.

The La Quinta Historical Society presents Michelle Hedgecock of Caliso Learning for a special presentation on Coachella Valley wildflowers.

Come to the La Quinta Museum and enjoy your favorite big band, swing and classic tunes as Ted Herman and a 10 piece orchestral play music from the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s.

Pat Flanagan, consultant with the Desert Protective Council, will be giving a presentation on William Blake to coincide with the Museum’s “Visions Past & Present of the Salton Sea”.  Blake was the first geologist to come from north tosouth in the basin and made the first geologic map of the area.

The women in Flight exhibit chronicles the lives of women pilots from the dawn of aviation through the modern day space program.  Aviatrix’s such as Jacqueline Cochran andAmelia Earhart as well as astronaut Sally Ride will be featured.

Join us at the La Quinta Museum as we celebrate Black History Month with a special performance by the E & J Movement!  The band will chronicle the progression of music including the blues and R & B through the influence of eary African rhythms.  Great music for the entire family!  This is an event you will not want to miss.

Join us at the La Quinta Museum for a special presentation on the Bob Hope Classic and golf in La Quinta.  Desert Sun Golf Writer and author of 50 years of Hope, Larry Bohannan, will be sharing his insights and stories spanning his career in golf.  After the event Mr. Bohannan will be holding a book signing of 50 Years of Hope,  which can be purchased in the museum gift shop.
